Why does the oil foam up when frying?
Nothing to worry about!
Our macadamia oil is pure and unrefined, meaning it doesn't contain anti-foaming agents.
The foaming is because our oil is not super-refined. we keep the good stuff in there, and the weird stuff out!– no nasty chemicals here!
Common anti-foaming agents used in cooking oil refining include:
- Dimethylpolysiloxane (PDMS): A type of silicone commonly used in food processing.
- Polyglycerol esters (PGEs): Used for their emulsifying and anti-foaming properties.
- Polysorbates: Often used to reduce foaming and improve emulsification.
- Fatty acid esters: Used in various food products for anti-foaming purposes.
- Silica-based compounds: Effective in controlling foam in food processing and cooking oils.
These agents help prevent excessive foaming during cooking and processing but are not present in cold-pressed, unrefined oils like Fancy Farmer Macadamia Oil.
How should I store my macadamia oil?
Honestly, it's always best to use it as fresh as possible.
But, if you have amazing self control,
Keep it in a cool, dark place.
No need to refrigerate, but make sure to keep it away from direct sunlight.
How long does Fancy Farmer Macadamia Oil last?
Our oil has a shelf life of about 12 months if stored properly.
Check the best-before date on the bottle for specifics.
What is Squalene and why is it beneficial?
Squalene, it's not just fun to say..
It's a natural antioxidant found in macadamia oil that helps protect your skin from damage and supports overall cell growth and development. Macadamia oil's high squalene content makes it a fantastic choice for both cooking and skincare.
Can I use Fancy Farmer Macadamia Oil for skincare?
Sure,
Macadamia oil is great for the skin due to its moisturizing properties.
Just make sure you’re not allergic to tree nuts!
- On a technical note, our macadamia oil is 'food grade' for use in cooking and eating.
- 'Cosmetic grade' macadamia oil is considered a different product as it has gone through a few more steps in the refining process depending on the manufacturer's specifications.
Where do macadamia nuts originally come from?
Macadamias are actually native to Australia, not Hawaii.
While the Hawaiians started commercial production before others, Australia has only recently been overtaken as the top producing nation in the world by South Africa.
Macadamias will always be a native Australian product, and it's amazing to see the macadamia industry grow globally for people to enjoy around the world!

We believe healthy, delicious food shouldn't be a secret or cost a fortune.
We keep our margins low and pass the savings on to you!
As far as economies of scale go, the more we can sell, the cheaper we can make it for everyone!
Why do you use plastic bottles?
I'm using the HDPE plastic bottles for a few reasons:
- It reduces my cost of production, making it cheaper for you!
- They're easy to use,
- They are less likely to break in transit- reducing waste,
- They are recyclable,
- Plastic bottles are actually less resource intensive to produce than glass bottles!
The energy used to make and process plastic is equivalent to 3.8 grams of CO2 per 1.0 gram of plastic.
More material is required to make glass bottles. For example,
A HDPE bottle is light at approx. 13.0 grams, with 3.8 CO2 equivalents per gram, it has a total impact of 49.4 grams of CO2 per bottle.
An equivalent capacity glass bottle would be 82.2 grams. At 3.0 CO2 equivalents per gram, it has a total impact of 246.6 grams of CO2 per bottle.
The plastic bottle has only 20% of the carbon impact of the glass bottle.
Just make sure you dispose of it responsibly, or even better- re-use it!
